Faculty Preceptor

BCCC is seeking preceptors for future clinic sessions! Our preceptors are welcome to sign up for more than one clinic shift. Preceptors will oversee 1-2 students in their professional field for the duration of clinic hours. 

Current Preceptor Policy

If you are an OHSU SOD Faculty member, you are able to volunteer as a preceptor. Any preceptors who are not currently employed at OHSU SOD must be certified as OHSU Clinical Instructor Volunteer Faculty. For more information or to start the certification process, please contact Megan Ulch at sether@ohsu.edu.  In addition, any preceptors who are not currently employed at OHSU must also carry their own liability/malpractice insurance for direct patient care.

Dental Preceptor

Oversees predoctoral students from OHSU SOD. Students are responsible for seeing patients and performing periodontal care and operative procedures. Together, the preceptor and the student will review the history and plan, treat, prescribe, and refer as needed. If you are interested in volunteering in the Bridges Clinic, you must first complete the online new volunteer training modules.

In order to complete the training, please use this link to access the folder "Dental Volunteer Training". Training simply involves reviewing 5 short presentations on trauma informed care. Once in the folder, start by clicking on the "Start Here” File, then follow the directions. 

You will be asked to confirm that you completed this training each time you sign up for a volunteer shift. You are only required to complete the training once, but feel free to refresh your memory as you sign up for more shifts if you want.

Student Volunteer

We accept all dental students (D1-D4) to perform various tasks based on their levels of expertise and approved procedures. Volunteer roles include Patient Services Representative, Sterile tech/ Infection Control, Dental Provider and Dental Assistant.

Volunteer in the Clinic

Interested in working directly with underserved populations? Bridges Collaborative Care Clinic is seeking passionate clinic volunteers who want to make a difference in the lives of our participants. Student Providers work with preceptors just like we do at the SOD at OHSU. Together with your preceptor, you can expect to review medical history, plan, treat, prescribe, and refer patients as needed. Student Providers can provide only the treatment they are approved to provide by the SOD, based on their progress in the curriculum. If you are interested in volunteering in the Bridges Clinic, you must first complete the online new volunteer training modules.

The leadership team is responsible for clinic administration, expansion, and improvement. Roles are varied, ranging from marketing and social media management to fundraiser planning to clinic administration.
