Part 1:
Cultural Humility

At the end of this training, you will be able to demonstrate an understanding of how barriers to health access will affect the participants that you will meet, define health literacy, use the teach-back method and prioritize setting an agenda with a patient.

Part 2:
De-Escalation Techniques

At the end of this training you will be able to identify body language, speech, tone, diction and actions to help guide an encounter in a positive direction, and know when an emotional situation has escalated and how to attain support

Part 3:
Motivational Interviewing

At the end of this training you will be able to identify body language, speech, tone, diction and actions to help guide an encounter in a positive direction, and know when an emotional situation has escalated and how to attain support

Part 4a:
Understanding Trauma

At the end of this training you will be able to define trauma, understand different traumatic stress reactions and how to recognize them, and understand how trauma impacts patients and learn some coping strategies. You will also learn how to avoid retraumatization in a healthcare setting

Part 4b:
Trauma Informed Oregon

Complete three modules from Trauma Informed Oregon’s Introduction to Trauma Informed Care Online Training Modules: “Why is Trauma Informed Care Important”, “Trauma Specific, Trauma Sensitive, and Trauma Informed”, and “A Brief Overview of NEAR Science” modules

Part 5:
Harm Reduction

At the end of this training, you will be able to define harm reduction, know how to talk about substance use with patients, know medications for various substance use disorders and understand how to recognize signs of an opioid overdose and how to administer naloxone.
